David Koch

David Koch was born in 1974, in Berlin from a french mother and a german father. Alongside studying economy in college, between 1997 and 2000 he started writing and performing plays for children and adults while being part of the A Tempo Company. In 2001, the end of the company happened around the same time David’s increasing desire to get involve with film.

The same year, his adoptive grandfather decided to tell him for the first time his 4 years of captivity in Nazi’s concentration camp. This experience resulted in a series of interviews and a 52 minutes documentary, a testimony that one can watch at the Fondation pour la mémoire de la Shoah as well as the Institute for Visual History and Education.

From 2002, David Koch started a career as an assistant-director for film and television. He worked with numerous directors including Olivier Dahan ans Ashgar Farhadi for the movie « Le Passé » in 2013. Since 2008, he has worked on every film by Olivier Marchal.

Thanks to his learning on film sets while pursuing his career as an assistant-director, David Koch has been developing short and feature films projects, starting in 2011 . 

In 2013, he directed « Une Visite », a short film produced by Pierre Cazenave Kaufman, as part of the Nikon Film Festival. Among more than eight hundred projects, the short film was part of ten other films selected by a jury presided by actor Charles Berling, and was screened  at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in 2014.
