About Frank Ychou
Frank Ychou, writer and director, studied his passion, cinema, between his native Paris and New York. After several years assisting Israel Horovitz, Laurent Tuel and Luc Besson, he turned from feature to short film with his first project: "Artem Silendi". A philanthropic, humane and humorous film. Selected for numerous international festivals, this first short won such awards as the Grand Prix de l'Alpe d'Huez, the Prix Unifrance des diffuseurs at Cannes, and the Prix de l'excellence at the Canada Short Films Festival, to name but a few.
He then went on to direct his first Apple ad, "La Chaussette". Shot entirely on the iPhone, this film depicts an unfortunate misadventure from which no one is immune, wrapped up in a postmodern love story. His sense of timing, his direction and the accuracy of his actors sum up his mastery of crafting touching, delicate comedies, earning him two Golds at the Grand Prix Stratégies and a shortlist at the YDAs.
In 2022, he directed the introductory short film for the Young Directors Awards 2022, "The Making Of The World", a dialogue-based satire on film shoots and movie sets, shown at the YDA Awards in Cannes.
